UMORE AZOKA 2003 PRIZEWINNERS

BASQUE THEATRE BEST SHOW
“Matraka ”of the Compañía Hortzmuga, for its large-format proposal, where the large apparatus, the music and interpretation and the pyrotechnics combine spectacularly within a coherent esthetics with what is clearly an antiwar message.

REST OF WORLD BEST SHOW
Factoría Maskaro, for its work entitled “Ai que em Mullo!”, a dance spectacle which includes day-to-day and real moments and situations, transported in an environment where water, as an element, is used as a link between the dancer and the spectator. A fresh show, due to the water and dynamism of its actions and immediacy.

SPECIAL MENTION
Exposición sobre el Mundo del Circo (Exhibition of the Circus World), which helped many citizens see the history of the Circus from another perspective, and take to continue maintaining this artistic discipline in Euskadi. To claim for a more direct involvement from the institutions, in order that a fixed location for this Basque Museum of the Circus becomes a reality

UMORE AZOKA III PRIZE
This award is granted to those companies, bodies, etc., which support, promote and revitalise the performing street arts.

On 31st May and during the welcome ceremony for the companies, programmers and communications media, this UMORE AZOKA Prize was awarded to Compañía de Teatro Kukubiltxo, for its 25 years and more than 36 shows, its different collaborations with musical groups and television programs, and the manufacture of props for different theatre companies.
