Panugo, a holy mendicant friar, happy and tipsy, announces his arrival to the good people to prepare the famous pilgrims' stew in full view of the whole town.
To do so he asks for alms and contributions of food and good wine from the people, and promises indulgences and a place in heaven in exchange.
After him the loose-tongued mountebank Sacamuelas Monipodio arrives with his satirical verses, miraculous potions, surgical instruments and endless secrets to alleviate complaints, set bones and trepan craniums.
The happy turmoil is joined by Inés de los Vivos, perfumer, courtesan, beauty care magician and mistress of the arts of eternal youth.
These voluble travellers compete ferociously, each offering their cures for body and soul.
Anything goes when selling and preparing the potion: taunts, games, seductions, alliances...
