In summer, people all round the world flock to the beach in their thousands. The tin cans washed up by the sea may come up to their ankles, but as long as their towels match their bikinis there is no problem!
Somewhere there is a town with no water because its river has dried up, but as long as I can do five or six loads of washing and take my daily perfumed bubble bath, there is no problem! This whole business of global warming and the sun's radiation isn't so bad: there is less need for tanning beds, and it's good to save money in these times of recession.
Human beings arrived on Earth only recently, thank goodness, but it didn't take them long to use their genuine physical and mental talents to change an assault the world to bring it in line with their needs. There are bright ideas on development have affected the environment so severely that is rapidly losing its ability to sustain life.
Is there any other creature that destroys the things that it needs to live and thinks there is "no problem"?
The Earth is dying. Oh, really? well, so long as I'm still alive, goodbye Earth!
