MINGOTE 90 AÑOS

Antonio Mingote Barrachina (born in Sitges, Barcelona, 1919) has recently turned 90. To celebrate this milestone, his friends wish to pay a tribute to the still-active cartoonist, graphic designer, writer, draftsman, and scriptwriter. A member of the Royal Academy of Spain, Mingote is considered the elder statesman of humorists and a key figure in the history of Spanish humour in the 20th century.

The exhibition 'Mingote. 90 years' brings together cartoons and caricatures by nearly half a hundred Spanish cartoonists including Máximo, Gallego & Rey, Peridis, Idígoras & Pachi, Esteban, Ricardo, Madrigal, Almarza, Munoa, Kalikatres, Datíle, Eduardo, X. Marín, Edu, Mozo, Ramón and Alfredo.

Likewise, drawings by Harca, Quique, Manolo, Marrugat, José Julio, Rafael Flórez, Ubaldo, Corella, Angelines, Ferreira, Carlos, Vizcarra, Enrique, Carbó, Orcajo, Ché, Lamber, Nerja, J. Aldeguer, Sebas, Sex, Kap and el Keto are on display.

The exhibition, produced by the Academia del Humor and the Government of Valencia through the Public Library of Valencia, has visited Valencia and Madrid with great success and is now showing in Kultur Leioa. In addition to the above, it contains 44 cartoons, a video projection and a selection of paintings and books by Mingote himself.
